Thoughts become sounds, utterances, sentences. What's said is heard and interpreted – not by people, but by listening structures and systems with electronic reasoning. Everything is logged. Words become physical, crystalize around frameworks, self-organize into architectural form. Within these environments, certain Power Words trigger movement, transformation. We should speak carefully. What will we do? In this project we will envision new architectural typologies which exist at the nexus of social media and physical structure. Using speech recognition software as a starting point, we will use a combination of computer-based drawing and prototyping to explore how transient events and utterances can be collected, organized, and made material and spatial. We will think and work at the scale of furniture, building and neighborhood. We will contemplate new narratives and experiences that might emerge as sensors and displays (of all kind) are considered an intrinsic dimension of architecture, rather than grafted onto existing buildings as "media facades"...
